Anthony Richardson Ruled Out With Hip Injury Vs Steelers
Indianapolis, — Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson has been knocked out against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a hip injury.
Following a 14-yard rush, the second-year quarterback—returning from a season-ending shoulder injury limiting him to four games last season—took a hit to his right hip area and instantly grasped his side. He stayed low on the grass momentarily before getting back up and strolling to the sideline without any assistance.
Richardson missed two plays, then came back to action following a few minutes of shaking off the damage; veteran Joe Flacco stood in for him Richardson carried the ball just one yard before, on his first play back on the field from Steelers defender Minkah Fitzpatrick, delivering a forceful hit with 3:58 left in the second quarter.
Richardson left the field again and returned to the changing room with the team’s medical personnel. Rising early in the second quarter, he looked ready to get back to action as he ran out of the tunnel helmet-strapped.
He was formally ruled out a few minutes later, though, and never reinserted into the game.
Richardson’s brief career has been much influenced by his health. Last season, the 2023 No. 4 pick suffered a concussion that kept him out of a Week 3 game; he also suffered a season-ending AC joint sprain in his right (throwing) shoulder.
Richardson began the initial three 2024 games without any problems.
