Insurance Giant "First American Title" Under Cyberattack

A mortgage and real estate giant “First American Title” was severely impacted by the cyberattack. On Thursday, the company posted on its website about the attack but failed to give the details about the event. But, its website is still offline.

A statement released by the First American said, “First American has experienced a cybersecurity incident,” and  “In response, we have taken certain systems offline and are working to return to normal business operations as soon as possible.” The company was reluctant to comment on it further.

In 2019, First American also had to pay a fine of $1 million to the NY State Department for mishandling uses’ sensitive information. The social security and bank numbers were left exposed by its “EaglePro” application.
